We have a great team at Spec Tool waiting to regrind or resize your spade drills to enable you to reduce your tooling costs. Spade drills may be reground and/or resized depening on the degree of wear to the cutting edges. Regrinding consists of regrinding the cutting edges and the chipbreaker radius. Resizing consists of regrinding the cutting edges, chipbreaker radius, chamfers and stepping the cutting diameter down to your specified diameter depending on the degree of wear from previous usage. Using these processes can greatly reduce your tooling costs when compared to purchasing new tools. We will save you up to as much as 30% of your new tool cost. Our turn around time is also very beneficial to your machining needs. Our target turn around time is four weeks to help keep your business running smooth. We require orders of 50 pieces or more to enuse a savings to our customers due to set-up times. So, save your worn spade drills and we will help you save on your tooling costs. Coatings are availible upon your request. All popular coatings are availible.

Spec Tool has an excellent regrind program, designed specifically to reduce your tooling costs. We have the ability to regrind many popular insert styles. We recommend quantities of at least 100 pieces to maximize your savings. The severity of damage from precious usage will be a factor in determing the actual size that can be obtained from the reginding and resizing process. Just give us a call. Spec Tool has a very succesful history of retipping carbide boring and grooving bars. The process consists of removing the worn tips and brazing new carbide in its place. Once the new carbide is attached we proceed with grinding the form to customer specifications from a detailed print approved by the customer. We recommend quantities of 50 pieces minimum on this style for tooling to be cost effective. Only basic sketch is required from the customer to start the retipping process.
